After a request in this thread made by arcadefever and HAWKXP, I managed to upload some pics of my jukebox for everyone to check out.
Well, here is that little critter in all its glory. It is an AMI H-200, born in 1957, according to this page. Still working perfectly. It belonged to my granddad who had a nice little tavern. I remember myself being 5 years of age and begging him for a coin just to listen to my favourite song.
And when the lights go out, it goes like this :
Opening the front glass cover to reveal the insides, back cover removed as well.
A close up on the record basket. Notice the leather belt which rotates the whole thing, also the twin spring mechanism that pushes the respective rod inside and makes the selection.
A nice picture of the audio amplifier. Yes, it uses electron tubes. The big boys will definitely recognize the 6L6, 12AU7 and 12AX7 responsible for that crystal warm sound.
The machine ceiling part, which contains the transformers and power receptables. It is made in USA, so we have 110V AC.
The coin door, which expects coins to be dropped from above. It can take 50c for 1 song, 1 euro for 2 songs, and 2 euro coin for 3 selections. Also notice the illuminated buttons.
It took really hard work to restore, I had to order parts from www.thejukeboxman.com and find an old and grumpy repair man in order to fix this. After it was fully functional, I had to find myself 100 records, wash them in detergent, rinse and let dry, print labels for them, and so on. It was really worth it, though, I can't complain, after all she is the lady of the house, even though she is 52 years old |

Basically I decided to restore it as it was. My grandfather had songs from years 1970-1980, and I wouldn't have it any other way. So, there are no rock/blues/pop songs in there, just traditional and folk Greek songs from those years
All of the records are sparkling clean and with no scratches. I verified them one by one and they sound marvellous. |
